
The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre is a non-profit charitable organization incorporated in September of 1986. The Western Ottawa CRC is operated and driven by a Board of Directors, staff and volunteers. We offer a vast array of community, health and social services and programs to benefit individuals of all ages in the Goulbourn, Kanata and West Carleton area.
Community services play a vital role in promoting healthy lifestyle strategies and problem solving skills for individuals and families. Whether it's facing a personal crisis, dealing with peers or aging family members, parenting small children or wanting to help others in your community, the Western Ottawa CRC is here for you.
We have 50 full and part-time staff members and approximately 300 trained volunteers. Last year, our volunteers logged over 19,049 hours. Volunteers assist with almost all aspects our programs and services including Meals on Wheels, Diners' Clubs, Transportation Program, and special events.
The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre has established a solid reputation in our community as an innovative leader in the development and delivery of award-winning health and social service programs.
In the past few years alone, a number of services and programs offered at the Western Ottawa CRC have received national recognition:
- Bully Prevention Program – receives on-going media attention
- Youth Program – considered a leader in the field of mental health
- Suicide Prevention Services – staff have been asked to present talks at conferences across the country
- Social Service Programming – a finalist in the 1999, 2000 and winner of the 2001 Donner Canadian Foundation Awards for Excellence in the Delivery of Social Service Programming
