Your Help Makes a Difference
Bully Busters

Students from École élémentaire catholique Jean-Paul II present a cheque to the WOCRC’s Bully Prevention program. Through a unique partnership with Black Belt Excellence, schools who participate in their presentation are encouraged to donate to the WOCRC. Thank you Bully Busters!
Canada Post

Canada Post presented Chrysalis House with a $1000 donation. This donation was won by the Kanata employees in an Attendance Recognition program run by Canada Post. Congratulations on your success and thank you for selecting Chrysalis House as your choice charity.
Kanata Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament

Congratulations to the Kanata Chamber of Commerce for organizing an enjoyable and successful golf tournament on May 15, 2007. They raised $4,000 for the WOCRC’s Youth Program. We’d also like to thank RBC Financial for their generous donation. Funds will be used to support youth initiatives such as crisis counselling, depression support groups, mental health initiatives and parent information nights. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of Western Ottawa’s Youth.
The Bay Celebrates its 337th Birthday

Hudson’s Bay Company is honouring its 337th Birthday by donating to local charities across Canada. In 2006, the Bay at Bayshore raised funds by participating in a number of national fundraising campaigns. Last month, the Bay presented Chrysalis House with a cheque for $650. Thank you for helping women and children in our community begin their journey to a violence-free life.
Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club ~ 30 years of service to Kanata

The Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club held a gala event in celebration of their Club’s immeasurable contribution to our community. The Club has been a proud supporter of the WOCRC for many years. This year, they presented the WOCRC with a cheque for $1000. Thank you to the Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club for their time and efforts to make our community a better place in which to live.
20th Anniversary: Hockey with Siemens

Three lucky WOCRC donors and guests joined Jason Di Tommaso from Siemens Canada Ltd. and Darryl Kicul, WOCRC Board Chair, at the Ottawa Senators vs. Montreal Canadiens game at Scotiabank Place. Siemens generously donated their premium 100-level suite for the November 13 game. We decided to use this donation as a thank you to our generous supporters. Although the Senators lost 6–3 to the Canadiens, fun was had by all! We are grateful that Siemens Canada Ltd. has provided this opportunity to thank those who donate so generously to our organization and helped raise much-needed funds for WOCRC!
MDS Nordion Helps Bring Bully Prevention Programs to
Pre-school and Secondary School Aged Children

MDS Nordion is a community leader in Western Ottawa and with their tremendous support we have expanded our Bully Prevention Program to include services for pre-school and secondary school aged children.
The pre-school component is receiving significant interest across Ontario. Angela Lorusso, Program Coordinator, was a guest on CBC’s Ontario Today call-in show with Rita Celli. They discussed various topics, including: How young is too young to teach kids not to bully?
The secondary school component has been well received by several parents who attended an internet safety presentation. More workshops are coming. For more information contact Angela at 591-3686 x 245.
MDS Nordion has been an invaluable supporter of the WOCRC for many years. In 2006 we received the last contribution to their $100,000 Capital Campaign pledge. This year’s MDS Nordion Celebrity Golf Classic raised over $30,000 to support our youth programs. Thank you MDS Nordion for your incredible support!
Scotiabank Elves

We refer to the team at Scotiabank as the “Scotiabank Elves”. They are always hard at work fulfilling good deeds in their community. In 2006, we received the last contribution to their $25,000 Capital Campaign pledge. Scotiabank has also been title sponsor of Champagne on Ice for the last three years. The Scotiabank Elves definitely embraced the spirit of giving this holiday season and ensured that every child at Chrysalis House had a gift to open on Christmas morning. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity!
School’s Cool Graduates Thank Dr. Peterson

Liam & Emily Bell, graduates of the School’s Cool Program, and Colleen A. Taylor (top left) of the WOCRC say thank you to Dr. Kersta Peterson (top right) of Beaverbrook Dental Health Clinic, for her generous donation of $2,694.00 to our School’s Cool Program. Dr. Peterson participated in the ‘Smiles for Life’ campaign in which dentists offer tooth whitening at a discounted rate, over a four month period, and donate all the proceeds to children’s charities. The ‘School’s Cool’ program is intended for children ages 2-5 who are entering school for the first time. Thank you Dr. Peterson!
This year, March through June, Dr. Peterson is once again participating in the ‘Smiles for Life’ campaign. Whiten your smile and brighten a child’s life. Call Dr. Peterson at 613-592-5105.
