Youth Community Development
The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre has one Youth Community Developer who works with local individuals, high schools and community groups to find out what needs or trends exist related to youth in our community and to help develop and coordinate services.
Some activities include:
- Youth Community Developer works with numerous community groups to enhance problem-solving skills and improve the health and well-being of youth.
- An opportunity for community members to come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems.
- Community members know best what youth's needs are. With their participation, change is likely to be more effective, on-going and meaningful.
- We help link service providers to collaborate on services and link community members to service providers.
- Provide assistance to individuals, high schools and community groups by working with them on social issues and concerns. Support them in engaging within their community, through community education, advocacy, outreach or health promotion.
- The program aims to help community groups develop new programs for youth or expand existing programs.
